Three-ring binders are perfect for document storage and they can also make a good impression during important meetings. Using three-ring binders is easy - after all, most people start using them in junior high school - but there are a number of things you can do to get the most out of them. Here are several suggestions you should try out:

  • Consider using pre-punched paper. While it can be helpful to keep a three-hole punch around, you're better off using pre-punched paper. This paper comes in different colors and recycled sheets are available so you can do something good for the environment. Plus, pre-punched paper can be used in your photocopier and printer so you won't need any special equipment.

  • Use binders with clear overlays. Some of today's three-ring binders have clear overlays over the front. (Sometimes the overlay is also applied to the spine and back cover.) If you use this type of binder, you will be able to create your own customized title pages. This can be a great way to make your work stand out, especially if you need to give a presentation or have an important meeting.

  • Create your own index tabs. No matter what types of documents you store in your three-ring binders, you need to organize them. The best way to do so is by using index tabs. While there are plenty of pre-printed index tabs available, creating your own is a good idea. This will allow you to organize your documents according to your own criteria. Some index tabs can be run through photocopiers, so you can make them look professional.

  • Use adhesive pockets and sheet protectors. If you need to store a lot of loose items in your binder (i.e. CD's, business cards, etc.), you should take advantage of adhesive pockets. Just stick one on the inside cover of your binder and you'll have a handy place to store your items. Also, you should keep some sheet protectors on-hand so you can protect important documents.

  • Consider using antimicrobial binders. As you probably know, it's really easy to spread germs in a shared work environment. Luckily, there are antimicrobial binders available. These specially treated binders help kill germs so you and your colleagues can stay healthy and productive.

  • Use reinforced paper. Finally, you'll want your documents to stay in good shape, so consider using reinforced paper. Reinforced sheets have a strip of plastic along the side so they can't be torn out of your binder. This will eliminate the need to re-print your documents.

Those are several ways you can get the most out of your three-ring binders. Using reinforced paper will make your documents last longer and creating your own index tabs makes it easy to get organized. Plus, adhesive pockets can help you keep various items in one place and pre-punched paper can save you time. And don't forget that antimicrobial binders can help you stay healthy. Start getting the most out of your three-ring binders today.
